Media personality Toke Makinwa has spoken candidly about being single and childless at 40, shedding light on her journey of self-acceptance and resilience.

In a recent episode of her podcast, Toke reflected on her life, acknowledging that if she had remarried, she might have faced another divorce, as life’s lessons never cease. Despite societal pressures, she chooses to celebrate her accomplishments rather than dwell on societal expectations.

I am 40, I am single, and I am childless. I said it, and I didn’t die. I look at my life and see how much I’ve achieved. I’ve built an empire, I’m one of Africa’s most influential voices, I’m surrounded by love, and I’m in great health,” Toke shared.

The former OAP emphasized the importance of confronting personal truths and not succumbing to shame. She expressed gratitude for her journey, the love of family, and her thriving career, which allows her to wake up every day fulfilled and happy.

Toke’s openness comes after facing criticism over her past. Previously married to fitness expert Maje Ayinde, their two-year marriage ended in 2016 due to infidelity. Speaking about the ordeal, Toke revealed the emotional trauma she endured, noting how she was unfairly blamed for the marriage’s failure despite being the victim.

Over the years, Toke has also addressed misconceptions about her views on marriage. She clarified that she loves and supports the institution, stating, “I advocate for marriage because two are better than one.”

Her resilience continues to inspire fans, as she proves that life at 40, regardless of societal norms, is about self-love, gratitude, and celebrating one’s victories.
