Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa is celebrating her new season of joy while reflecting on how God has turned her story around.
The soon-to-be mum took to Snapchat to share old messages from trolls who mocked her for not having a husband or child. She expressed gratitude to God for having the final say in her life and for steadily proving her critics wrong.
“The God that steadily shames the devices of the wicked. The one that’ll always have the final say. Thankful.”
In another post, she praised God for glorifying Himself with ease, while clarifying that she wasn’t trying to highlight negativity but to inspire others to trust God’s timing.
“Shared that not to highlight negativity but to bask in the goodness of God, and I hope anyone struggling can find the strength to believe that God has the final say.”
Her testimony comes just days after she revealed her pregnancy with a heartwarming baby bump video on Instagram. On her podcast, Toke tearfully recounted how she prayed to God to become a mum at 40, and a month after her birthday, her prayers were answered.
The actress and former OAP has often been vocal about her personal journey. Earlier this year, she opened up on her podcast about being single at 40, past heartbreaks, and how she has refused to wallow in pity. She also once hinted she was open to settling down as a second, third, or even fourth wife if that was her destiny.
Toke’s marital history has also been in the public eye. She was previously married to fitness expert Maje Ayinde, but the marriage ended in 2016 after two years due to infidelity.
