Nigerian celebrity designer Toyin Lawani has paid tribute to her late mother, Princess Atinuke Babalola, in a heartfelt Mother’s Day celebration.
Taking to Instagram, Toyin shared a stunning photo of herself recreating one of her mother’s iconic looks, expressing gratitude for the values and discipline instilled in her.
In her emotional tribute, the fashion entrepreneur credited her late mother for shaping her into the successful woman she is today. She highlighted the lessons she learned from her—hard work, dedication, kindness, and compassion—despite coming from a royal background.
“I owe it all to my amazing mom, Princess Atinuke Babalola. She taught me everything I know. Regardless of our royal status, she made us work hard daily. I wish she was here to see the King of Fashion I’ve become.”
Toyin expressed sadness that her mother is no longer alive to witness her achievements, her journey as a mother, and the way she is raising her own children. However, she believes her mother is watching over her with pride.
This isn’t the first time Toyin has honored her late mother. During her 40th birthday in April, she visited her mother’s graveside with her husband and children to pay her respects. She credited her mother for making her the strong, independent woman she is today.
Beyond her celebrations, Toyin recently opened up about a traumatic experience. She revealed that her eldest daughter had been hospitalized and required a blood transfusion. The designer used the moment to remind fans that social media isn’t always reality, as people often go through struggles behind the scenes.
Despite life’s challenges, Toyin Lawani continues to honor her mother’s legacy while making strides as a renowned fashion mogul and dedicated mother.
