A Twitter user identified as Dolapo recently took to X Platform to criticize reality TV star Anto Lecky for using the title “doctor” in her social media bio, particularly in light of her honorary doctorate degree.
Dolapo argued that it was inappropriate for Anto to include “doctor” in her name without having earned a medical degree or a traditional PhD.
In his tweet, Dolapo advised Anto to remove the title from her bio, emphasizing that if she wished to be addressed as a doctor, she should pursue a medical degree or a PhD. He further pointed out that Anto had also listed the title on her website, which he found objectionable.
Dolapo, who identified himself as a doctoral candidate, expressed his determination not to allow individuals to use the “doctor” designation without undergoing the rigorous process he himself had experienced. He stressed that honorary doctorates only entitled individuals to be addressed as such by the conferring institution, not by the general public.
This public call-out comes amidst a recent online altercation involving Anto Lecky, where she voiced concerns about the exodus of Nigerians to other countries due to economic hardships. Additionally, Anto had previously shared her struggles with weight gain, attributing it to a health condition and facing criticism from others.
