Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Venita Akpofure, has taken a bold stance against early marriage, advising women to postpone the idea of tying the knot until they reach around 28 years old.

During an interview on The Big Friday Show with Tacha, the reality star, who is also a renowned actress and video vixen, shared her perspective on the importance of exploring life and self-discovery in one’s 20s.

Venita acknowledged that some individuals may be mature at a young age but emphasized the need for trying different experiences before committing to marriage. She highlighted the importance of acquiring grown-up skills, such as navigating challenging times and understanding oneself, before taking on the responsibilities of marriage.

In her words, Venita expressed,

Don’t marry young o! Don’t go and do ‘I’m doing high school sweetheart, we die here.’ Just be young! Be young, enjoy your life. When you’re tired, get married.” She further specified that, ideally, if her daughter were to approach her about marriage, she would prefer her to be at least 28 years old.

The reality star explained,

Because you’re going to change your mind and you don’t know all of who you are at 20-something. Don’t get me wrong, there are people who are mature oh. But you need to try different things in life, different experiences, to be sure of okay, I want to be stuck here. Because it’s handcuff, you’re there.”

Venita, who is divorced herself, challenged the traditional notion of a shared living space in marriage, suggesting separate houses connected by magnificent corridors for an ideal setup. Her unconventional perspective has sparked a divided reaction among listeners, with some supporting her viewpoint and others expressing disagreement.

The post has generated diverse comments on social media, with some cautioning against being influenced by podcast discussions.
