Woli Arole says build relationships first — not after — if you’re hoping to ask for favours. The comedian-turned-preacher recently took to Instagram to call out a growing trend he finds troubling: people reaching out for help without any prior connection or communication.
In his words,
Please learn to build relationships with people first before you proceed to ask them for favours. You see someone randomly asking you for a favour. Someone that rarely says hello on WhatsApp or Instagram, rarely chats or greets you. Learn relationship ethics.”
His message touched on a key issue many professionals and public figures silently deal with — unsolicited requests from strangers who make no effort to form genuine bonds.
This isn’t the first time Woli Arole has spoken out about social behavior. Just last week, he condemned content creators engaging in the “Imbe Challenge,” which he criticised for mocking children with Down Syndrome. He described the trend as distasteful and insensitive, reminding Nigerians that children living with the condition need love and encouragement — not ridicule.
In another bold take, Woli addressed Nigerians in the diaspora, urging them to drop the pride. He recalled an encounter with someone who proudly announced their return from America. In response, Arole reminded the person that living abroad doesn’t automatically make one superior. “I stay in Nigeria and I’m doing very well,” he said.
He’s also been vocal on social issues. Arole recently cautioned against the rising trend of healthy women opting for surrogacy in the name of being ‘woke.’ While acknowledging that surrogacy is valid for those who truly need it, he emphasised that carrying one’s child is a blessing and shouldn’t be dismissed lightly.
Addressing gender roles in marriage, Woli debunked the idea that women should be silent or voiceless. He made it clear that submission doesn’t equate to dumbness, affirming that a wife is meant to be a partner — a helpmate — not a shadow.
