Nollywood actress and producer,Wumi Toriola, is not holding back her admiration for her senior colleague, Joke Muyiwa. In a heartfelt Instagram post, she showered praises on the seasoned actress for how she brought the character of Afolayan’s mother to life in Konge 3.
@iamjokemuyiwa You are a true treasure in Nollywood, ma,” she wrote. “Your performance in Konge Sequel is nothing short of outstanding. You wove every thread of the character’s journey into a masterpiece. The role is yours, and you owned it completely.”
Toriola continued, noting that Muyiwa’s portrayal added richness to the story and left a lasting impact on the entire production. “Your authenticity, warmth, and depth in every scene elevated the film. Thank you for bringing the story to life,” she concluded.
This touching tribute comes just days after Wumi opened up about the emotional and physical toll of filming Konge 3. According to her, she broke down in tears after wrapping up the production. She had been sick, emotionally drained, and going through a procedure while filming — and the intensity of her role left her shaken.
But despite the challenges, Wumi’s efforts paid off. In the past two years, she has carved a solid place for herself in Nollywood. Her first cinema release broke records, with Konge 3 raking in ₦57.7 million during its opening weekend — the highest-ever opening for a non-holiday weekend by an independent distributor.
Wumi’s efforts didn’t go unnoticed. She received a Box Office Champion award from the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), proudly sharing the honor with her fans on Instagram.
