Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has fired back at her senior colleague, Afeez Owo, following comments he made in his latest interview.
Speaking on Behind The Fame – African List, Afeez, who is married to actress Mide Martins, described Wumi as someone who only reacts when pushed. According to him, she doesn’t take nonsense but would not cause trouble unless provoked.
His remarks, however, did not sit well with Wumi. In a now-deleted video, the actress lashed out at him, questioning why he dragged issues into the public space. She mocked his interview style, suggesting she might as well “rent a husband to hold the mic and spoil things.”
“You’re an elder, please stop this. Must every rift now be dragged to podcasts? They gave you a mic, and you started talking rubbish. They gave you pepper soup, and you began blabbing. Am I a mad woman? Will I lash out if people don’t offend me? Have I ever insulted you before? Despite all your unfortunate behaviours, I still respect you,” Wumi fumed.
Her reaction sparked mixed opinions from fans online. While some accused her of being disrespectful, others felt she had only proven Afeez’s point.
One user wrote, “This one no get manner o,” while another commented, “The man didn’t say something bad, nah. Wunmi is just too rude anyway.”
This is not the first time Wumi and the couple have clashed. In 2023, Mide Martins and Afeez Owo tendered a public apology to her after a costly production error left her embarrassed online.
Beyond this feud, Wumi has been vocal about challenges in the Yoruba movie industry. She previously called out production managers for neglecting cast and crew welfare, and also criticized the frequent violent roles she has been cast in, admitting it might affect her chances of finding love.
