Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has called out celebrity chef Chef T of Diary of a Kitchen Lover for ignoring her direct message last year. Wumi, who was promoting her cinema debut movie Queen Lateefah, took to Instagram to express her frustration.
She shared a screenshot of the message she sent to the chef, where she requested to appear in one of her cooking episodes as part of the movie’s promotion.
Wumi accused Chef T of acting independently and refusing to collaborate.
Chef T feels she doesn’t need anyone again. Na only she grow her grow,” Wumi stated. She further criticized those who preach the mantra “we rise by lifting others,” accusing them of hypocrisy and condoning disrespect under the guise of fandom.
Despite Chef T’s lack of response, Wumi achieved monumental success in Nollywood. Her debut cinema movie earned ₦57.7 million on its opening weekend, setting records as the highest Nollywood opening for a non-holiday weekend and the top opening by an independent distributor. These achievements earned her the title of Box Office Champion of 2024 from the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB).
In response to critics, Wumi praised individuals who grow while maintaining healthy collaborations.

Wumi also addressed subtle jabs from industry colleagues, revealing that someone referred to her as a “YouTube star.” She responded by highlighting her success both on YouTube and in the cinema world, urging her peers to focus on their journeys instead of seeking external validation.
