Xavi: Messi's Return Will Help Barcelona

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez met a question with laughter when he was asked an allegedly ‘easy’ one. This occurred ahead of El Clasico. He was asked if he could simply pick out the differences between Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema.

The majority of the questions posed to Xavi before the game involved Javier Tebas, UEFA, and El Caso Negreira. Despite the fact that Los Blancos have dropped their past three Clasicos and are down 1-0, Xavi continued to pick them as favourites in terms of the game, although he did acknowledge that they were under pressure. When asked about Robert Lewandowski’s goals against Elche and their significance, Xavi acknowledged that it was essential for him to enter the game with confidence after a difficult March.

“He is an important and transcendental player. That he has confidence is a positive point. he helps us in attack and defence, with his dropping to link play. He’s very important.”

He was asked, “My question is really clear, what does Karim Benzema lack that Robert Lewandowski has?

“The question is not easy [laughs]. We are talking about, perhaps, two of the three best strikers in the world. They are very similar. I think Robert understands our positional game well. Benzema appears everywhere, he is very talented. Robert is perhaps more physical. Benzema is a touch better in his associative play, but Robert is good there as well.. The two make a lot of differences in the teams they play.”
