Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has taken a bold stance against Governor Sanwo Olu of Lagos State, questioning his approach to addressing economic hardship in the state.

In a candid post on her Instagram page, Jegede challenged the governor’s decision to provide food assistance to Lagosians instead of implementing measures to create employment opportunities. She suggested employing individuals for tasks like sewage digging, underground pipe laying, and street sweeping, paying them a minimum wage.

Expressing concern over the plight of taxpayers reduced to beggars, Jegede urged for compassion and action from government officials. She questioned when someone would show mercy and pity towards the citizens amidst the prevailing economic challenges.

Jegede’s critique of Governor Sanwo Olu echoes similar sentiments expressed by other public figures, including Laura Ikeji and Mercy Aigbe, who have called on government officials to address the dire economic conditions facing the country. In particular, Aigbe appealed directly to Seyi Tinubu, son of President Tinubu, urging him to intervene on behalf of the suffering populace.

In response, Seyi Tinubu acknowledged the challenges but urged Nigerians to endure the hardship for the sake of a better future, expressing optimism for the nation’s prospects despite the current difficulties.
