Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has established a committee with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to pay back government officials’ unpaid gratuities from 2015, 2016, and 2017.

The impacted parties will gather at the Ministry of Finance on Saturday, January 27, 2024, as per a statement released by State NLC Acting Secretary Ahmed Abubakar.

The Governor ordered individuals who will be impacted to present with official documentation attesting to their retirement from government service.

The statement reads:

“The local government retirees from 2011, 2012 and 2013 are to meet at the Ministry for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs on the same date, same time with the same documents for the same purpose.

“Part of what is needed during the verification exercise includes the approved computed pay slip, notification of retirement, Identification cards and bank account details.

“We therefore at this juncture urge every affected person(s) to please ensure full cooperation and participation to achieve this laudable task..

“While appreciating the Governor for this surprise gesture, we pray Allah to keep guiding him and help achieve his set targets to uplift Zamfara State.”
