105 Houses Destroyed by Rainstorm.

Properties worth millions have been destroyed by heavy rainstorms that wreaked havoc in Oke-Ako, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

The downpour accompanied by a heavy whirlwind occurred on Friday evening. it destroyed over 105 residential buildings and shops as well as electric poles in the community.

Some of the victims stated the rain started out normally. However, it started blowing off rooftops and destroying electric poles thereby subjecting the sleepy community to total blackout. The rain also lasted for over two hours.

One of the victims, Elder Ilesanmi Elijah, lamented that the rainstorm damaged his property. He appealed to the State Government for immediate assistance.

While inspecting the level of wreckage on Sunday, Governor Biodun Oyebanji consoled with residents of the community. He went on to describe the incident as devastating.

Oyebanji represented by his Deputy, Mrs Monisade Afuye, expressed delight that no casualty was lost during the natural occurrence, promising that government would assist the victims.
