The Nigerian Army yesterday completed the operational training of 172 soldiers for a peacekeeping mission in Guinea-Bissau. The unit began operational training on March 21 at the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peace Keeping Centre (MLAILPKC), Jaji, Kaduna State.
Chief of Operations (Army), Major General Taoreed Lagbaja said the unit would serve as Nigeria’s 2nd Squadron stabilization mission in the ECOWAS support mission in Guinea-Bissau.
General Lagbaya represented by the Director of Major General (Peace Support Operations), Maj.-Gen. Bayode Adetoro said the graduation further validates Nigeria’s commitment to deploying quality peacekeeping forces as part of its contribution to the quest for peace and security around the world.
He explained that pre-deployment training is intended to update and refine the military’s knowledge and experience in peace support operations.
