Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has made a fresh, top-four prediction after watching Liverpool beat Nottingham Forest at the weekend.
The Merseyside club are well outside fourth place with nine points behind Manchester United, having played a game more.
Even if they win their remaining matches, it’s unlikely that Champions League football will be played on Merseyside next season.
However, Rio Ferdinand believes Liverpool could sneak into the top four and should not be written off.
“Nottingham Forest put them under it. But Liverpool got through with it by hook or by crook. They could sneak into the top four; you know Liverpool,” Ferdinand told Five.
With Manchester United still to play the likes of Tottenham and Aston Villa, added to an FA Cup final to look forward to, plus Newcastle still yet to play Arsenal, then points are there to be dropped.
If Liverpool loses one more game, their faint hopes for the top four could be over.Up next for Liverpool is their Premier League game against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Wednesday.
