At least 2,000 students from 12 Lagos state schools and seven state private schools will attend the 2nd Lagos Children’s Empowerment Conference on Thursday. Faith Ikekhide, the convener of Ikekhide Foundation, a non-governmental organization, announced this yesterday.
According to Faith Ikekhide, the conference with the theme “Destiny Recovery” would be at State Senior High School,
She added that the conference would also include empowerment sessions of professional empowerment and mentorship.
She said:
“The vocational empowerment would focus on training the students with practical hands-on experience in at least 19 practical skills, while the mentorship empowerment sessions will be anchored by notable resource persons who are proficient in various fields of life endeavours.”
“The resource persons will share practical life experiences and charge, with the objective of helping the students to discover, harness and deploy their God-given potentials, skills and gifts towards making themselves valuable to their immediate society in particular and the Nation at large,”
The keynote speaker is expected at the event, Pastor J. F Odesola, the Continental Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God Continent 3 and a host of other facilitators.
She further stated that the Lagos State Ministry of Education representatives would attend the conference, which marks the foundation’s first anniversary.
“The program will also feature a creative dancing competition and recitation for the student’s physical, social and mental development.
“The conference is part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR), a channel through which we give back to society by investing in the participants’ spiritual, educational, vocational and social development,” she added.
