Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has named Major General A.B Ibrahim as Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP). Lagbaja has also authorised the appointment of new General Officers Commanding (GOCs) for several divisions of the Nigerian army, as well as the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) commandant.
Major General Alabi is now the General Officers Commanding (GOCs) of the 1 Division Nigerian Army Kaduna, Major General E.A Abubakar of the 3 Division Nigerian Army Jos, Major General Mala of the 7 Division, Major General Chibuisi of the Theatre Commander Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, and Major General I. Ali of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).
Other appointments include a new Provost Marshall (Army), Brigadier General Garba as Chief of Military Intelligence, Brigadier General Ugiagbe as Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Major General Maina as Commandant Army War College Nigeria, Major General Aligbe as Commander Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Minna, Major General Oluyede as Commander Infantry Corps, and Major General Kange as Corps Commander Artillery.
According to reports, the appointment was made necessary due to the retirement of several officials. The retirement is due to President Bola Tinubu’s nomination of new service chiefs on June 19.
