Aare Oladotun Hassan, President of the Yoruba Council Worldwide, has asked President Bola Tinubu to form a national youth development commission, citing the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development’s failure to deliver on its fundamental objective since its creation. He made the statement after receiving the Sir Ahmadu Bello leadership award from the Northern Youths Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN) in Abuja.
According to him, the ministry has outlived its usefulness in carrying out its fundamental duty, necessitating the President’s need to find a workaround. He stated that the establishment will respond to the unique demands of the country’s young, as well as give additional chances for youths.
He stated that “The creation of such organisation will be particularly beneficial to the teeming Nigerian youths’’.
Hassan, on the other hand, expressed gratitude to NYAN for the honour and promised to provide enough assistance for the growth of the young community.
While bestowing the honour upon him, Mohammed Abdulrazaq, National Speaker of the Northern Youths Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN), stated that the recognition was a token of appreciation for the recipient’s passion and commitment to Nigeria’s progress, as well as his philanthropic gestures in promoting educational development, youth empowerment, and critical infrastructure.
According to Abdulrazaq, Hassan’s nomination as the Jakadan Zaman Lafiyan Najeriya’, which the NYAN described as a cynosure of judicial transformation and induction into the body’s “hall of fame,” was based on his unwavering commitment to upholding accountability, probity, prudent and transparent management of both men and resources for the benefit of humanity.
