The Federal Government will distribute N174 million to 28 tertiary institutions through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) to acquire furniture, books, and ICT equipment. The Education Support Services of TETFund highlighted in a document received by our reporter on Sunday that it had previously disbursed N1.6bn to 44 institutions for the acquisition of the same items.
The N174m will be available in the second part of 2023.
The Department of Education Support Services manages and implements academic content-based intervention programs at public tertiary institutions in the country on behalf of TETFund.
TETFund’s fourth tranche of payment includes N46.5 million for five universities, N34.5 million for seven polytechnics, and N93 million for 16 education colleges.
Similarly, the agency stated that to support the execution of the Higher Education Book Development Programme, it formed a group called TETFund Board comprised of 99 academics led by Prof. Charles Aworh.
