Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has expressed his desire to prolong his stay at Real Madrid, throwing into question his future with the Premier League club. The 29-year-old, currently on loan with Los Blancos, shared his enthusiasm about remaining with the La Liga giants, emphasizing his contentment at Real Madrid.
Kepa’s loan to Real Madrid was prompted by Thibaut Courtois’s unfortunate ACL injury, sidelining the Belgian shot-stopper for a significant part of the 2023/24 season. With reports suggesting a possible £21 million ($26m) price tag on Kepa’s head next summer, Real Madrid aims to negotiate a deal below £15 million ($18m) to secure him permanently.
Chelsea, having secured Robert Sanchez as Kepa’s potential replacement and with links to Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale, appears ready to part ways with the Spanish goalkeeper. Kepa’s existing contract with Chelsea, set to expire in 2024, signals a potential financial move for the Blues as they seek compensation for their initial £69 million ($85m) investment.
