NARTO suspends planned nationwide strike

The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners, or NARTO, has halted its planned nationwide strike.

The suspension follows a meeting with the Federal Government and stakeholders on Monday.

NARTO had issued a strike warning due to economic difficulties impacting tanker drivers.

The association’s members had threatened a nationwide shutdown beginning on Monday due to the expensive cost of Automobile Gas Oil, or AGO (diesel), which is required to power their vehicles while carrying petroleum goods across Nigeria.

Last week, the price of diesel reached N1,226.69 a litre.
