Celebrity crossdresser and social media influencer, Bobrisky, finds himself in legal trouble after being arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on charges of money laundering and abuse of the Nigerian currency, the Naira.

The arrest, which occurred at Pinnock Estate in Lagos State, has sparked widespread attention and debate.

According to reports, Bobrisky was arraigned in a Lagos State High Court, where he was kept in a separate cell. The charges against him include allegations of laundering approximately 180.7 million Naira and tampering with Naira notes during public events. The EFCC filed six counts against him, citing incidents where he allegedly sprayed large sums of money at social gatherings, in violation of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act.

Despite Bobrisky’s prominent status on social media, his legal troubles appear to be significant. His arraignment and subsequent legal proceedings have drawn attention not only from fans and followers but also from fellow celebrities and industry insiders.

Yoruba actress and filmmaker Eniola Ajao expressed sympathy for Bobrisky, suggesting a connection between his arrest and controversies surrounding her recent movie premiere, “Ajanaku.” Ajao’s emotional post on Instagram highlighted her concern for Bobrisky’s well-being and called for support from the EFCC.

Similarly, actress and skincare specialist Simi Gold showed solidarity with Bobrisky through social media posts, offering words of encouragement and support during his time in custody.

However, the arrest has also reignited debates about celebrity lifestyles and legal accountability. Some observers question why Bobrisky was singled out for Naira abuse allegations when similar behaviour is common at public events. Others speculate about potential motives behind Bobrisky’s arrest and the involvement of individuals like Very Dark Man, who had previously hinted at taking action against Bobrisky.
