The Zamfara State Government has denied circulating documents implying that it had transferred large sums of money to some bandit kingpins in exchange for governmental talks.
The state government has made clear that it would continue to battle banditry, abduction, and other forms of crime across the state.
Abubakar Nakwada, Secretary to the State Government, told journalists in Gusau on Thursday that the documents “were not only fake but also mischievous, misleading, malicious, and false.”
Nakwada claimed that documents with his and other high-ranking government officials’ signatures were fabricated.
He stated that security authorities had been appropriately briefed and were working to locate the social media source.
The source also disputed reports that money was handed to some media promoters under the pretence of “reconciliation efforts” from the state Security Trust Fund.
According to the SSG:
“This is very crucial that we address this matter with transparency and urgency.
“Ordinarily, we should have ignored this, like we have ignored many other fabricated lies aimed at distracting the administration of Gov. Dauda Lawal from its commitment in rescuing and rebuilding the state.
“But due to the sensitivity of the security, which remains one of the priorities of this administration, we are compelled to make some clarifications.”
