Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to collaborate to implement President Bola Tinubu’s agenda across several sectors. This comes as the National Council on Privatization (NCP), led by the Vice President, approved the Bureau of Public Enterprises’ (BPE) audit financial reports for 2021 and 2022 on Wednesday.
The Council also approved the BPE’s progress towards implementing its 2024 work plan, which aims to enhance its operations.
The Council’s approvals were among the decisions made at the NCP’s third meeting, headed by Vice President Shettima and held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The Council further urged the BPE to continue working with the appropriate parties to resolve the dispute over the sale of the Sapele II (Ogorode Generation Company Ltd) and the sale of coal blocks belonging to the Nigeria Coal Corporation.
During the meeting, the Vice President praised the BPE’s new management for its diligence and revitalized vision, asking stakeholders to help the bureau achieve its goals.
He praised the agency for its tight oversight and completion of the Zungeru Hydroelectric Power Plant concession, as well as efforts to establish an Independent System Operator.
Senator Shettima also directed the agency to collaborate with the NCP’s different committees and the Ministry of Justice to develop a comprehensive road map to speed the conclusion of outstanding transactions in the national interest.
