Yobe State Government has presented its 2025 budget of N320.8 billion for the next fiscal year.
Governor Mai Mala Buni made this statement when presenting finance and appropriation measures to the State House of Assembly.
According to him, N144,036,787,000 (44.9%) is recommended as recurrent expenditure, while N176,774,213,000 (55.1%) is set aside for capital expenditure.
He stated that the 2025 budget will strive to establish a strategy of completing all current projects while also embarking on new vital initiatives, referring to the budget as “the Budget of Economic Consolidation and Poverty Reduction”.
Buni said:
“Our watchword would remain the observance of due process, transparency, and adherence to budgetary provisions, blocking leakages and providing the enabling environment to woo investments that would turn around the fortunes of the State.”
Yobe governor provided a summary of the significant accomplishments made during the previous fiscal year, which span all areas of the economy.
He bemoaned the fact that the implementation of projects and programs has been adversely affected by the unfavourable exchange rates and the unchecked inflation rate.
According to Governor Buni of Yobe:
“The global economic challenges in recent years, Nigeria and Yobe state inclusive, has made budget implementation quite challenging due to the ever increasing rate of inflation.
“This simply implies that more funds are needed in the execution of our projects and programmes to attain our projected accomplishments.”
