Borno: IGP Egbetokun orders clampdown on attackers of Nganzai Divisional police

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered an immediate clampdown on those responsible for the explosion at the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State, which resulted in the deaths of two police officers.

The attack, which occurred on January 9, 2025, at around 12:10 a.m., led to the fatalities of Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat.

The attack is believed to have been carried out by suspected Boko Haram terrorists, as explained by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso. In response, the Inspector-General condemned the act, emphasizing that any individuals or groups involved in the deaths of police officers will face justice.

In a statement released on January 10, 2025, by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Egbetokun extended condolences to the families of the fallen officers and reassured them that their benefits and entitlements would be processed promptly.

IGP Egbetokun has tasked the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 15, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, with deploying the necessary resources and personnel to track down the perpetrators. Additionally, he has instructed Onwuemelie to coordinate with other security agencies to ensure those responsible are apprehended and brought to justice.
