In a decisive operation against criminal elements, Nigerian security forces have eliminated ten armed bandits during a clearance mission in Zamfara State.
The successful operation, which took place in a remote forest area, also led to the recovery of dangerous weapons and ammunition from the neutralised criminals.
Military sources revealed that the operation was conducted based on credible intelligence about bandit activities in the area.
The troops engaged the armed group in a fierce gun battle, overpowering them and securing the area. Among the items recovered were AK-47 rifles, locally made guns, and a significant quantity of ammunition.
The Zamfara State Government has praised the security forces for their bravery and effectiveness in the ongoing fight against banditry.
A government spokesperson emphasised that such operations demonstrate the administration’s commitment to restoring peace and security across the state.
Residents have also expressed relief at the development, though many called for a sustained military presence to prevent reprisal attacks.
Security analysts note that this successful operation comes at a critical time when bandits have intensified attacks on rural communities in Northwest Nigeria.
The military has assured citizens of continued offensive actions against all criminal elements, urging the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely information.
Authorities have reiterated their call for remaining bandits to surrender and embrace the government’s amnesty program, warning that those who continue with criminal activities will face the full might of the security forces.
