A severe rainstorm ravaged Zogirma village in Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State over the weekend, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
The downpour, which lasted from Saturday night into early Sunday, demolished more than 100 houses, injured several residents, and displaced dozens of families, according to local sources.
Community members reported widespread damage as the storm tore through the village, rendering many homeless. In response to the disaster, Bunza Local Government Secretary Malam Muhammed Umar Mawo visited the affected area to assess the destruction and offer condolences to victims on behalf of the council chairman.
Authorities have begun documenting the extent of the damage to submit a detailed report to the Kebbi State government. The assessment aims to facilitate the provision of emergency relief materials and other necessary support for the displaced families.
Affected residents have appealed for immediate assistance, including roofing materials, food supplies, and medical aid, as they grapple with the aftermath of the devastating rainstorm.
With homes destroyed and livelihoods disrupted, the community remains in urgent need of intervention to rebuild and recover from the disaster. Local officials have assured victims that efforts are underway to mobilise aid and alleviate their suffering.
