President Bola Tinubu has left Abuja for a two-nation official trip to Japan and Brazil, with a brief stopover in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The visit follows an invitation from Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and includes participation in a major international conference in Japan.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, confirmed that Tinubu will first attend the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama, Japan, from August 20 to 22.

The conference, themed *“Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa,”* will focus on Africa’s economic transformation, private sector investment, and sustainable development.

Following the event, the president will proceed to Brasilia, Brazil, for a two-day state visit from August 24 to 25.

During his stay, Tinubu is expected to hold bilateral discussions with President Lula da Silva, participate in a business forum with Brazilian investors, and witness the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to strengthen Nigeria-Brazil relations.

A delegation of key ministers and senior government officials will accompany the president to explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation between the two countries. The trip underscores Nigeria’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and attracting investments to drive economic growth.

The presidency has not disclosed further details about the Dubai stopover but emphasised that the visits to Japan and Brazil are part of Tinubu’s broader diplomatic engagements to advance Nigeria’s strategic interests.
