Ogun state Govt stops free entry at Olumo Rock following safety concerns from massive turnout

The Ogun State Government has expressed its sincere gratitude to the public, tourists, and visitors for the overwhelming response to the newly renovated Olumo Rock Tourist Complex.

The unprecedented turnout demonstrated significant public interest and represented an achievement of the vision of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to establish Olumo Rock as a world-class tourist destination for both local and international visitors.

As part of this revitalisation effort, the state government had introduced a free entry initiative to allow residents and visitors to experience the cultural and historical significance of the recently renovated site.

This initiative successfully attracted thousands of visitors who embraced the opportunity to explore the landmark. However, the exceptionally large crowds created concerns regarding overcrowding and public safety.

At several points, the volume of visitors presented potential risks that could have led to a stampede, were it not for the prompt and professional response of security personnel and on-site staff.

Prioritising public safety above all else, His Excellency has directed that the free entry initiative will conclude on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Following this date, normal access procedures and standard entry fees will be reinstated.

The government sincerely regrets any inconvenience this necessary adjustment may cause and reaffirms its commitment to ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for all future visitors to the Olumo Rock Tourist Complex.
