Nigerian Army troops under Operation Hadin Kai intercepted a suspected Nigerian terrorist attempting to breach a security perimeter in Yobe State on Monday, while also conducting successful counterinsurgency operations across multiple states.

According to a military source who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the suspect’s inability to speak any Nigerian language raised suspicions of transnational terrorist links, prompting further investigation.

The operation, carried out by the 120 Task Force Battalion in Katarko, Gujba Local Government Area, was part of broader efforts to dismantle terrorist networks.

In neighbouring Borno State, troops of the 202 Battalion in Bama recorded a significant development as two relatives of insurgents—an adult woman and a child, voluntarily surrendered after escaping from the Churchur axis. The military source described this as evidence of sustained pressure on terrorist strongholds.

Meanwhile, in Sokoto State, troops from the 8 Division Garrison engaged armed bandits in a fierce gun battle in Tsamaye and Mai Lalle, Sabon Birni LGA, neutralising two assailants and recovering three AK-47 rifles along with a motorcycle. In Kebbi State, soldiers thwarted a cattle rustling attempt in Sauna Village, Argungu LGA, forcing the rustlers to abandon 251 cows, which were later returned to their rightful owners.

Further south, troops in Ondo State arrested two suspected gunrunners in Igbara-Oke, Ifedore LGA, who were allegedly acting on instructions from an inmate at Kirikiri Correctional Facility in Lagos to supply weapons to criminal elements in Zamfara.

In Delta State, security forces intercepted a tricycle carrying 200 litres of suspected illegally refined diesel along the Jeddo-Omadino axis and later raided a suspected IPOB/ESN hideout in Okpanam, Oshimili North LGA, arresting seven suspects and seizing a motorcycle, mobile phones, and other materials.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operational momentum to ensure national security and public safety. These coordinated operations highlight the Nigerian Army’s intensified efforts to combat terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities across the country.
