Gunmen suspected to be bandits have allegedly killed ten people in the Wayam village in Sabon-Gari District, Rafi Local Government Area, Niger State.
The horrible event took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The bandits reportedly attacked the town on motorbikes and shot intermittently, causing panic and mayhem.
They have been reported to have killed three people and massacred two women who resisted their sexual approaches, while five more perished from gunshot wounds hours later.
Before departing, the bandits set fire to the peasants’ houses and supplies.
When reached, a neighbourhood source who declined to be identified by name stated that the village is presently abandoned since members fled following the incident.

Recall that around six months ago, robbers assaulted the Madaka settlement, a few kilometres from Wayam, killing approximately 60 people.
The Niger State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, could not be reached for comment at the time the story was filed.
