Barcelona defender, João Cancelo has revealed that the club’s legend Ronaldinho is his idol in football.
Cancelo said this ahead of Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League round of 16-second leg tie with Napoli on Tuesday night.
The 29-year-old, who joined Barcelona on loan from Premier League champions Manchester City a few months ago, said he grew up watching Ronaldinho play the beautiful game.
“I grew up with Ronaldinho as an idol, I’m proud to wear the Barça shirt,” Cancelo told Gazzetta dello Sport.
He further commented on his loan spell from Manchester City, stating,
“I don’t know my future yet, but I would like to stay at Barcelona.”
Cancelo’s homage to Ronaldinho underscores the Brazilian’s enduring influence and legacy at Barcelona, as the team gears up for a crucial European encounter against Napoli.
