A new chapter in Nigeria’s agricultural transformation is being written—one powered by bold, young changemakers. Through the visionary Graduate Agripreneur Programme (GAP), the BATN Foundation has ignited a spark at the University of Ilorin, investing in the dreams and drive of six student entrepreneurs poised to reshape agribusiness in the country.

In a competitive selection process that placed a premium on innovation, sustainability, and social impact, six exceptional students emerged as winners, each receiving a ₦1.5 million grant to bring their agricultural ventures to life. The recipients are Abdulahi Ayomide, Aliu Abdulbasit Olamilekan, Uthman Oladipo, Olorunmaiye Cynthia, Iliyas Elijah Danladi, and John Olumide Adeyemi.

“This isn’t just an award; it’s a commitment to the future of Nigeria,” said Mr. Oludare Odusanya, General Manager of the BATN Foundation. “By supporting these brilliant students, we are laying the foundation for a new generation of agricultural leaders who will tackle food insecurity, create jobs, and drive innovation from the grassroots up.”

The award ceremony, held at the Faculty of Agriculture, drew the presence of the University of Ilorin’s top leadership, underscoring the institution’s dedication to practical, solution-oriented learning. Among the dignitaries were the Vice Chancellor of Unilorin Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN; Registrar Mr. M.A. Alfanla; Bursar Mr. Abiodun Lawal; and other key academic leaders, all of whom commended the students and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to producing industry-ready graduates.

“The GAP initiative aligns perfectly with our mission to build leaders and innovators,” noted the VC of the University of Ilorin Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN. “We believe the future of Nigeria is in the hands of young people who dare to think differently and act courageously. These winners have proven that they are not only students—they are nation-builders.”

Beyond financial support, GAP provides a unique blend of tailored mentorship and access to expert networks, ensuring that each venture has the tools to scale and succeed. The programme reflects BATN Foundation’s larger mission to accelerate youth-led solutions to Nigeria’s development challenges, especially in the critical area of food security.

For recipients like Olorunmaiye Cynthia, the grant is a launchpad. “This opportunity is more than just support—it’s belief. It’s the BATN Foundation telling me that my vision matters. I’m ready to take this idea and turn it into real impact,” she said.

As the BATN Foundation deepens its partnerships with educational institutions and public-private stakeholders, the success of the GAP programme at Unilorin sends a clear message: when young minds are empowered, they don’t just follow—they lead. And in Nigeria’s journey to a more sustainable agricultural future, it’s the youth who are clearing the path.
