Gunmen have kidnapped Mrs. Gloria Izonfuo, a federal commissioner representing Bayelsa at the National Population Commission. Sunday night near the Ogbakiri junction on the East-West Road in the Emohua Local Government, Rivers State.
Izonfuo was reportedly travelling from the Bras Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa to Port Her Harcourt, the capital of Rivers state when the gunmen struck around 6:30 p.m.
Reports revealed that the kidnappers intercepted the NPC Federal Commissioner, her driver, and her maid at gunpoint. The bandits demanded a N500m ransom to release the victims.
Rivers State Police Command spokeswoman Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident.
She said the Police Commissioner in the state had ordered the command’s tactical team to take action to rescue the victims.
