The number of people killed in a fresh attack in Benue State’s Logo and Katsina-Ala local government areas remains unclear.
According to reports, alleged armed herdsmen men massacred at least 30 people in several towns throughout the state’s two local government regions.
The Benue raid, which began on Sunday and persisted until the early hours of Monday, resulted in the recovery of ten dead in Kastina-Ala and twenty bodies in Logo.
Addressing media in Makurdi, the state capital, Kastina-Ala LGA Chairman Justine Shaku stated that the gunmen murdered several persons and damaged expensive assets in his region.
Also, Clement Kav, Chairman of the Logo LGA, stated that the attackers claimed control of his site.
He stated that they claimed ownership of the Tombo territory.
“They attacked the Tombo council ward and killed 17 persons and injured 37,” the Chairman said.
However, Catherine Anene, the Benue state’s Police Public Relations Officer, said that just five remains had been retrieved.
“Logo attack confirmed. Five bodies recovered,” Anene added.
