Bidemi Kosoko speaks on opening a showroom after a viral video sparked confusion among fans and blogs online. The Nollywood actress has now set the record straight on what really happened.
A few days ago, Bidemi shared a video on her Instagram page where she was seen advertising a newly launched showroom. While many assumed the showroom belonged to her and rushed to congratulate her on the new business venture, the actress has clarified that the store is not hers.
Addressing the mix-up, Bidemi wrote:
“As seen on Facebook… ummmm. Anyways, thanks for wishing me well, ese mo dupe, but it’s false information. I only celebrated a sister’s achievement @itwoznigeria_interiors by posting her store on my page to promote her brand. No be me open showroom ooo. Na @itwoznigeria_interiors. Please don’t forget to patronise her. Thanks.”
The daughter of veteran actor Jide Kosoko appreciated everyone who sent in congratulatory messages but stressed that the celebration was for her friend’s business, not hers.
This isn’t the first time a celebrity has had to correct misinformation spread on social media, especially on platforms like Facebook.
Just recently, actress Mosun Filani debunked claims that she was in her 50s after being tagged in a Facebook post with actresses believed to be in that age group. She responded with a lighthearted jab at Facebook, saying it operates on a different level.
Last year, Yoruba actress Ronke Odusanya also had to shut down rumours that she had acquired a multi-million naira mansion. She clarified that the news was completely false.
Similarly, Wumi Toriola was rumoured to have welcomed a second child. Responding with humour, she congratulated herself and joked that no win was too small—even the imagined ones.
Other stars like Omoni Oboli and Eve Esin have also been forced to speak out after false claims surfaced online. Omoni sarcastically congratulated her bestie Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha over a fake baby news report, while Eve Esin dismissed a post that claimed she had welcomed a child after 12 years of marriage—clarifying that she wasn’t married in the first place.
