The Nigeria Customs Service’s Adamawa/Taraba Area Command has confiscated commodities worth N13 million, including 15,449 litres of Premium Motor Spirit.

This was revealed in a statement issued by the NCS’s official X Twitter on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the Area Controller, Salisu Abdullahi, revealed this during a news conference on November 17, 2023, at the Area Command headquarters in Yola.

19 cartons of foreign pesticide and 26 bags of 50kg of foreign parboiled rice were also confiscated.

The Comptroller stated that the majority of the product had been disposed of in compliance with existing legislation, with the earnings transferred to the Federation Account.

Abdullahi stated that the leftover PMS would be auctioned off.

He said that the command did not catch any of the smugglers since they all fled, but he pledged to crack down on all smugglers, stating that the country could not afford to allow saboteurs to take over the economy.

The comptroller urged Nigerians, stakeholders, and other relevant security agencies along the Command’s borders to continue working with Customs in the fight against smuggling.
