Twitter is set to introduce new features, including call and encrypted messaging options, according to Twitter owner, Elon Musk. The call feature is expected to align the micro-blogging platform with other social media applications. Similar features are already offered by apps such as Facebook and Instagram.
Musk added that a version of encrypted direct messages (DMs) would be available on Twitter. However, it is unclear if the calls will also be encrypted. The new features are expected to roll out on the platform soon. It will roll out alongside other recent updates, such as the ability to reply to any message in a thread and use any emoji reaction.
Additionally, Twitter will begin removing and archiving accounts that have not been active for several years as part of a cleansing process.
