Fulham manager, Marco Silva is confident Alex Iwobi will become an important figure at the Vicarage Road.

Iwobi made an impressive debut for the Cottagers in the 1-0 victory against Luton Town on Saturday.

The Nigeria international replaced Harrison Reed two minutes after the hour mark.

The 27-year-old was close to scoring late in the game but his effort hit the woodwork.

Silva backed Iwobi to become an important member of his squad.

“Nice to see Alex come in and get his first minutes. They are going to improve for sure, the way we play is going to make them better players for sure. We’re really happy to have them,” Silva told the club’s official website.

Iwobi joined the Whites from Everton on transfer deadline day.
