As schools prepare to resume, actress Esther Ene took to her Instagram to share a powerful message with parents, highlighting the vital role they play in shaping their children’s values.
She urged parents to take a moment to sit with their children and emphasize that there is never a reason to mock or make fun of others. Whether it’s about someone’s appearance, clothing, or personal circumstances, she stressed that kindness should always prevail.
In her post, Esther listed several key lessons for parents to instill in their kids. “Explain to them that there’s nothing wrong with wearing the same shoes or clothes every day, and a used backpack carries the same dreams as a new one,” she wrote, pointing out that material things do not define a person’s worth.
Her message extended to the issue of bullying, as she called on parents to teach their children the emotional harm it causes. Esther emphasized the importance of inclusion, urging parents to explain that no one should be excluded for being different. “Remind them that some kids don’t go home to loving families, so it’s important to be kind at all times,” she concluded, noting that these lessons begin at home.
Esther’s plea comes at a time when bullying and negativity continue to be significant issues in schools, and her call for compassion resonates with parents who want to see their children thrive emotionally and socially.
Her message aligns with similar sentiments recently expressed by other Nigerian celebrities. Actress Bimbo Ademoye also raised concerns about parenting, urging parents to be vigilant about what their children are exposed to online. Likewise, BBNaija’s Queen Mercy Atang advised parents to be mindful of their behavior, warning that children often mirror what they see at home, including unkind actions.
Actress Mary Njoku also chimed in on the topic, criticizing those who offer unsolicited advice on parenting. She argued that unless someone is actively responsible for raising a child, they should refrain from advising parents, as raising children is practical and far from theoretical.
