FEC Approves N449.9m for Masterplan of 17 Airports

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved N449.9 million to hire consultants to create master plans for Nigeria’s 17 airports.

Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President said this during a briefing to the State House correspondents on Wednesday after the FEC meeting chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Mr. Shehu listed the airports as follows:

  • Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
  • Lagos, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
  • Port Harcourt International Airport.
  • Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.

The rest are in Owerri, Imo, Benin, Edo, Enugu, Enugu State, Maiduguri, Borno, Yola, Adamawa and Calabar, Ilorin, Sokoto, Ibadan, Jos, Akure and Katsina.

Mr Shehu said the council had also approved N3.4 billion post-contract advice on the construction of a second runway and related facilities at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

A presidential adviser said the deal for the redevelopment of Rivers’ Ogoni has also been approved.
