Judges of the Federal High Court of Nigeria will begin their 2024 Christmas vacation on Monday, December 16, this year.
According to a circular signed by
the Chief Judge of the Court, Hon. Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, the Judges will return to work on Monday, January 6, 2025.
However, normal court sittings would resume on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, in all judicial divisions of the court throughout the country.
This is in accordance with Order 46, Rule 4 (C) of the Federal High Court Civil Procedure Rules, 2019 (as modified).
During the holiday time, the three key judicial divisions, Abuja, Lagos, and Port-Harcourt, would continue to function and be accessible to litigants.
However, the vacation Judges will only hear cases involving the enforcement of basic rights, the arrest or release of boats, and problems of severe national importance.
Justices Emeka Nwite and M. S. Liman will serve as vacation judges in Abuja, while Justices Akintayo Aluko and Isaac Dipeolu will be on the bench in Lagos.
The vacation judges for the Port-Harcourt judicial division will be Hon. Justices P. M. Ayua and A. T. Mohammed.
According to the circular, the Chief Judge greeted his other brother judges with a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
