Femi Adebayo’s Jagun Jagun Bags 7 Nominations at the 2024 AMAA Awards

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo is overjoyed as his 2023 movie Jagun Jagun earns seven nominations at the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).

Taking to his Instagram, the actor shared the exciting news, highlighting the recognition his film has received across multiple categories.

Jagun Jagun secured nominations for:

  • Best Actor in a Supporting Role
  • Achievement in Costume Design
  • Achievement in Make-up
  • Achievement in Production Design
  • Ousmane Sembene Award for Best Film in African Language
  • Achievement in Visual Effects
  • National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) Award for Best Nigerian Film

Femi expressed his gratitude and excitement, acknowledging the hard work of his team. He also thanked the AMAA organizers for recognizing the movie’s excellence.

“Truly honored to receive these nominations and excited for every contributor in the nominated categories on the production of Jagun Jagun! Big thanks to @amaawards_ for the recognition and to my team of talented creatives for making Jagun Jagun a timeless masterpiece,” he wrote.

Since its release on Netflix, Jagun Jagun has made significant waves in the film industry. It garnered 2.1 million views globally and ranked 5th in the Non-English Charts. Additionally, it was among the Top 10 trending movies on Netflix in 17 countries.

Earlier in August 2023, Femi Adebayo celebrated his first award for Jagun Jagun, which came as a surprise at a dinner organized in his honour. During the event, he received heartfelt tributes from fellow actors Faithia Williams and Bimbo Ademoye.

Femi also won the Best Indigenous Language award at the 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) for Jagun Jagun. He dedicated the award to his Creator, production team, family, and fans, promising to continue delivering high-quality films.

In a previous interview, the Jagun Jagun star revealed that he sold his properties to fund the movie, a multi-billion Naira project, avoiding loans from financial institutions or private individuals. He also shared how his worst nightmares fueled his creative inspiration for the film.
