The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, has revealed that nearly 5,000 homes in 208 villages throughout 16 local government areas of the state have been impacted by either flooding or windstorms.

On Wednesday, the agency shared the terrifying data on its official Facebook page, adding that they cover the period from April 2024 to date.

Following the flood tragedy in Karasuwa, Yusufari, Machina, and Nguru local government areas, SEMA stated it conducted a fast needs assessment on victims in accordance with emergency best practices.

The agency restated its commitment to closing the gaps and ensuring victims are protected and assisted within the available resources.

“Already validation is ongoing and immediate needs and support in line with available resources will be delivered as directed by His Excellency [Gov Mai Mala Buni],” the statement said.
