An unspecified number of inmates at the Maiduguri Correctional Center have fled after a jailbreak.
The jailbreak tragedy occurred on Tuesday as a result of heavy floods in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
The penitentiary and other civic facilities have suffered considerable damage as a result of raging floods.
According to Leadership, prison authorities stated that the inmates were deemed extremely dangerous, emphasizing that they may be armed.

The development may increase the state’s security threats as a result of terrorist, bandit, and other criminal actions.
It was learned, however, that a manhunt of the inmates is underway to identify and apprehend the fugitive convicts, with law enforcement authorities mobilizing more resources.
