Funke Akindele crowns Iyabo Ojo her woman crush Wednesday, celebrating the actress’s beauty, confidence, and exceptional craft.
The Nollywood filmmaker took to Instagram to share clips of Iyabo Ojo from the set of her upcoming movie Behind the Scenes, describing her performance as “absolutely phenomenal.”
In her post, Funke Akindele couldn’t hide her admiration for Iyabo Ojo’s artistry and style. “My WCW is the beautiful, stylish, and elegant Iyabo Ojo! Her performance in Behind the Scenes was absolutely phenomenal. Iyabo continues to prove why she’s one of the best in Nollywood. Her talent, confidence, and passion always shine through every role she plays,” Funke wrote.
The gesture has warmed the hearts of many fans, especially given the pair’s history. Funke Akindele and Iyabo Ojo were once at odds after a blogger’s criticism of Toyin Abraham’s movie, The Ghost and The Tout, led to public tension between them. However, in 2022, they reconciled at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, embracing warmly and putting their differences behind them.
Since then, the two movie stars have maintained a close and supportive friendship. Funke Akindele has continued to celebrate Iyabo’s wins both personally and professionally. In June, she gifted Iyabo a brand-new iPhone 16, keeping her promise to replace her Samsung phone. Earlier in May, Funke joined Iyabo in Tanzania for the wedding finale of her daughter, Priscilla.
When Iyabo premiered her movie Labake Olododo, Funke gave it her full endorsement, praising the film’s visuals, production quality, and storytelling. She congratulated Iyabo on her success and encouraged her to continue breaking boundaries in Nollywood.
