Nigerian filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele has shared highlights of her August, expressing gratitude for a month filled with work, travel, and memorable experiences.

Taking to her Instagram page, the movie star posted a heartwarming video recap of her biggest August moments. Funke revealed that the past month was particularly busy, as she traveled to Frankfurt, Abuja, and Lagos for work and spent two months on a film set. Despite her packed schedule, she noted that it wasn’t all work, as she enjoyed fun times with her crew members, friends, and colleagues who made the journey worthwhile.

The award-winning actress and filmmaker also marked her 48th birthday during the month and treated herself to a short vacation in the United States. She expressed gratitude for the laughter, adventures, and unforgettable memories that filled her August.

“August was a busy month!! From jetting off to Frankfurt, Abuja, and Lagos for work, to spending two months on a film set, it was a busy ride. But it wasn’t all work and no play! I had my amazing crew members, friends, and colleagues to laugh with, have fun, and make unforgettable memories on and off set. I also celebrated another year of life and squeezed in a short US vacation to unwind. I am grateful for the adventures, laughter, and good times that filled my month.”

August also came with major milestones for Funke. She announced her upcoming blockbuster, Behind the Scenes, which will premiere in December 2025. The actress described the film as a project close to her heart, promising her fans a captivating and powerful story.

The month was also a reminder of how far she has come. Funke reflected on her early years, revealing how she once had no spotlight but clung to her dreams. She credited time, growth, and grace for transforming her process into purpose.

This year, Funke set a new record as her 2024 release, Everybody Loves Jenifa, became the highest-grossing film of all time in West Africa, pulling in an impressive ₦1.6 billion at the box office.

In a message to young creatives, the filmmaker encouraged persistence, stressing that while her journey was not always smooth, it was worth it. She emphasized her perfectionist approach to filmmaking and how her passion drives her to ensure every detail is right.
