In response to remarks made by Abdullahi Ganduje, the immediate past Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has labelled Mr Ganduje as a confused man. He also brushed off his statement about “slapping” as simple bluster.
Kwankwaso said this on Saturday morning while speaking with BBC Hausa Service.
According to him, he met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for about two hours at the Presidential Villa. While there, they had a discussion regarding alleged land deals and other infractions of Ganduje’s administration in Kano state. He further added that the President was “so surprised with the revelations.”
The former governor stated
“I heard that he ( Ganduje) said he would’ve slapped me, but I’m here. He was just confused. These are all my boys politically. They can’t even look at me straight in the face if we meet. He was in a confused state when he said that, these my political boys if they see me they lower their gaze”.
He claimed that Ganduje had, among other things, given land at the Kano Race Course to his friends and family. It became difficult for individuals who wanted to engage in sports and other forms of exercise to find a location.
He further claimed that Ganduje had allowed shops to be built all around the holy site where the Emir and many other important dignitaries had prayed, compromising the security of the Eid Prayer ground. The Eid praying ground is where Muslims gathered to pray during the month of Sallah.
Kwankwaso stated that it was possible for the Tinubu administration to hire certain members of the opposition in his cabinet and left open the possibility that he would ultimately be included on the upcoming ministerial list of the new administration.
