Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has suspended the Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency following allegations of financial misconduct.
The suspension, which takes immediate effect, is aimed at allowing an unhindered investigation into the suspected financial irregularities within the agency.
Governor Okpebholo stated that the action is part of his administration’s commitment to promoting accountability and transparency across all sectors of governance.
This latest suspension by the Governor follows similar actions taken in recent months, including the suspension of the state’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Samson Osagie, and the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Damian Lawani, who were both accused of financial misconduct.
The governor emphasised that the move is not politically motivated but rather a necessary step in ensuring that public office holders are held to the highest ethical standards.
Okpebholo urged all stakeholders to support the process and cooperate fully with investigators to uncover the truth behind the allegations.
The suspended official is expected to remain out of office until investigations are concluded and further decisions are made based on the outcome.
Governor Okpebholo reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and mismanagement of public funds.
Okpebholo assured citizens that the state government would continue to take decisive actions to restore integrity and trust in public institutions.
